Even though it doesn’t really feel like it yet, it is officially spring! Here is my Spring-themed storytime I did this week at Evening Family Storytime:
Book: Spring is Here by Will Hillenbrand
Rhyme: Planting Time
to the tune of “Row Your Boat”
Dig, dig, dig the earth (pretend to dig)
Then you plant your seeds (pretend to plant)
A gentle rain (fingers flutter down)
The bright sunshine (arms circle overhead)
And flowers you will see (open arms wide)
Flannel: Five Little Kites
One little kite in the sky so blue,
Along came another, then there were two.
Two little kites flying high above me;
Along came another, then there were three.
Three little kites, just watch them soar,
Along came another, then there were four.
Four little kites, so high and alive
Along came another, then there were five.
Five little kites dancing across the sky,
What a sight to see, way up so high!
Book: Some Bugs by Angela Diterlizzi
Scroll Story: Wake Up, It’s Spring
Song: “Itsy Bitsy Spider” –Songs for Wiggleworms
The itsy bitsy went up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again
great big hairy spider, very quiet spider, l’araignée gypsy
Book: Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson
Rhyme: Relaxing Flowers
Five little flowers [Hold up five fingers.]
Standing in the sun
See their heads nodding [Make fingers nod.]
Bowing, one by one. [Make fingers bow.]
Down, down, down
Falls the gentle rain, [Flutter fingers downward.]
And the five little flowers
Lift up their heads again! [Hold up five fingers.]
